BATH NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY

BY JOANNA OSBORNE A BATH NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHER

I get quite a few enquiries about Newborn Photography in Bath so I though I shall write a page about the Newborn photography service I supply in the Bath area.

My diary as a Bath Newborn Photographer and baby photographer is a complicated place! Nobody told your baby that they are expected to turn up for their portrait session and while some can’t wait to get here, some are fashionably late. This makes my diary a wonderfully fluid place!

I take a limited number of newborn sessions each month so that I can ensure I can fit everybody in. Once you make a booking we will set a provisional date then when your baby arrives we can adjust it if need be.

Your Bath Newborn Photography session will take place in my comfortable purpose designed studio based outside Malmesbury in a Village lending itself to a relaxed atmosphere.  Newborn studios are not like traditional photography studios - they are designed to be warm and comfortable with a temperature of 25-29 degrees. I want you and your baby to feel relaxed and comfortable so you are able to feed on demand and put your feet up with refreshments and a magazine (I even have some new dads who take a quick nap!)

When you arrive you can relax, have a drink and get settled whilst I go over the health and safety policy with you. I always have a session plan arranged before your photoshoot. If you have any favourite photos please send me screen shots before hand.

Newborn sessions take between 4-5  hours. They can often take a long time until they sleep - quite often because they have slept on the way here in the car. Do not worry eventually they will.

The props are expensive as they are hand made for purpose. I have lots of background choices, beautiful wraps, animal outfits, delicate soft lace knitted blankets, head bands and plenty of baskets, buckets, beds and bowels to create some beautiful Newborn Baby Photography for you to treasure for a life time.

You do not need to bring anything but if you have a favourite blanket or perhaps something special to you, perhaps your wedding dress we can try to incorporate it into a photo. The sessions are season inspired so the decorations and floral arrangements around the props tend to change according to season. As well as an abundance of artificial flowers in the garden I grow tulips and daffodils for the spring and roses and lavender for the summer. On average I will have 10 different set ups ready for you when you arrive.

I also have a Winnie the Pooh and Beatrix Potter set ups please let me know if you would like to so these before hand

For older siblings I have a whole wardrobe full of clothes including Trish Scully Dresses in sizes 2 - 15,  boys shirts, trousers, shorts, braces and vest tops. Please let me know your children's sizes before hand so I know when I work on your session plan.

As a mummy I know how precious your newborn baby is to you. I am one of the few Newborn Photographers to be awarded Associate Level Qualifications with both the Master Photographers Association and The Societies of Wedding and Portrait Photographers.

I take the safety of your baby safely and can assure your they will be in safe hands. I am CRB checked and hold an up to date Paediatric First Aid Certificate.I will not put your newborn in any dangerous situations. When you see a baby hanging is a basket or dream catcher this is a composite image. A baby was never left hanging in a basket. This is part the reason why the editing takes so long after.

You can rest assure your baby and children are in safe hands and you are working with a fully trained, professional, fully insured photographer.

Please see my Newborn Photography Safety Page to understand how I importantly I take your newborns safety and what you need to be aware of during you session.

Newborn Photography is best taken within the first two weeks of your baby being born. This is because after this period they tend to be awake more so are harder to settle and pose them. Many of the poses after the first two weeks become uncomfortable for the baby, and their reflexes become more developed adding to additional safety concerns.

You can of course include sibling and mum and dad poses in your session. I tend to do the sibling poses earlier on once we have done the first set up of the newborn photos else they soon loose interest. The Family poses I do at the end as it is less important for the newborn to be asleep then.

I have a play room here with plenty of toys in and a garden outside. There is also a park round the corner so there is plenty to keep your toddler or older children entertained.

I hope after seeing my Bath Newborn Photography and reading this you will be convinced to choose me as your Bath Newborn Photographer.

My website and social media accounts are kept up to date with recent images. Please let me know when making your booking if you do not want your images used on my website or social media.
